Video Settings and “Test Your Speed”

What is “Set Video Speed?”

To make things run smoothly, we optimize our VRS settings according to your Internet speed. Click on “Test Your Speed.”

What is “Test Your Speed?”

This tells you how fast your Internet connection sends video from your webcam to the interpreter. Knowing this helps you pick the right setting for the best possible picture for your VRS calls.

What would happen if my Video Speed test says I should select “medium,” but I select the “high?”

The picture will be choppy. We programmed VSoft to produce the best quality picture at each individual speed. So you’re best option is to choose the VSoft setting that matches your computer’s upstream speed.

How can I increase my speed?

Simple. Close all open windows on your screen except for the Video Speed test window. Also, run the defragmentation program on your hard drive. This should give you a little boost. (Go to the Windows Control Panel and click on Performance and Maintenance. There you’ll see an option to rearrange items on your hard drive to make programs run faster.)

The site www.speedguide.net offers plenty of speed tips and tools. But the best way is to get a faster connection. You get that through your internet service provider (ISP).
