Voice-to-TTY
Step by Step Instructions for Voice-to-TTY Relay Calls
-
Hearing people simply dial 7-1-1 to connect with relay users who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech-disabled. Relay users call hearing people through an operator who “relays” the conversation between the callers. In other words, the Communication Assistant (CA) acts as a go-between and types the words you say, allowing your caller to read the conversation.
-
When you get a relay call, the CA begins by saying you are receiving a relay call and will explain how relay works if you ask. So please don’t hang up.
