Two-Line VCO

Step by Step Instructions for 2-Line VCO Relay Calls

Please note: You need two phone lines for this call: one for a TTY phone, and one for a phone with conferencing or three-way calling.

  1. Dial 711 or 1-800-855-2881 to reach a VCO relay Communication Assistant directly.
  2. When the message "RC NBR CALLING PLS GA" appears on your TTY display screen, type the area code and telephone number of your second line-the telephone line-followed by "TWO LINE VCO GA."
  3. You will connect to a Communication Assistant who will call your second telephone line.
  4. When your second line rings, pick it up and ask the Communication Assistant to hold. You may also provide instructions, such as "Please keep track of names and numbers."

    Follow directions according to the phone feature you are using:

    For phones with conference calling:
    • Press the conference button then dial the hearing person you want to call.
    • Press the conference button again to bring the hearing person on with you and the Communication Assistant.

    For phones with three-way calling:

    • Press and release the receiver button, or FLASH key if you have one;

    you may hear beeps and a dial tone.

    • Wait 2 seconds then dial the person you want to call.
    • Press and release the receiver button to bring the hearing person on with you and the Communication Assistant.
  5. When the person you have called answers, speak directly to them over the phone. The Communication Assistant will type everything they say for you to read on your display screen. The Communication Assistant will not announce the call or ask for repeats during the conversation; you may do so directly at your own discretion.
  6. Continue this process throughout the duration of your call. When you are ready to hang up, say "Goodbye" to the person you have called then hang up.
