Toll Free Number Customer Notification for IP Relay and VRS Users
Effective November 22, 2011, Internet Telecommunications Relay (iTRS) providers can no longer assign or issue a "toll-free" number to their relay users. Toll-free numbers begin with one of the following three-digit codes: 800, 888, 877, 866 or 855.
If you wish to get a toll free number to use with IP Relay or VRS, you will need to contact a toll free service provider to request a number. Toll-free numbers are provided by many companies for a monthly cost. For a list of companies that provide toll free numbers, please click on SMS/800 website, or you may call the SMS/800 Help Desk at 1-888-SMS-3300.
After you have obtained a toll free number from a toll free service provider and wish to use that toll free number for your IP Relay service, you may contact AT&T or any other Internet Relay Provider to assist you in getting the toll free number to work with your 10-digit number. Please contact us using one of the following methods:
If you currently have and are already using a toll free number for your IP relay calls and wish to keep this number, you need to contact the Internet Relay provider that issued the number to you and request assistance in transferring your number to a toll free service provider of your choice. You have until November 21, 2012 to get this done or your toll free number will no longer work.
