Internet Relay Calling Tips
- Provide special instructions before your call is placed. When the Communication Assistant comes on the line, he or she will see your instructions and the number you want to call.
- Reduce pauses in your conversation by sending your text in smaller batches. This helps your conversation flow smoothly.
- Stop the Communication Assistant from typing with the "Interrupt" button. (Do NOT just begin typing.) Wait until the text being typed by the Communication Assistant comes to a complete stop. This is especially convenient for stopping a recorded message being typed to you.
- Alert everyone on the call when you have finished with your message. Type "GA" for "Go Ahead" to signal that you are done typing your message and are ready for a response. Type "SK" for "Stop Keying" to signal that you are finished with the conversation and are ready to hang up.
